RunSmart CEU In Austin

The two-day (15 contact hour) continuing education program "RunSmart: A Comprehensive Approach To Injury-Free Running" is being offered in Austin, Texas on February 22 - 23, 2013.

Description: This two day course will provide runners, coaches, physical therapists, and other health and health care providers with a comprehensive approach to injury-free running. This encompasses running injury prevention, enhanced running performance, and optimal running injury recovery and rehabilitation. This program will examine the scientific evidence related to running injuries: causes, assessment techniques, and treatment approaches. An evidence-based, athlete-centered approach will be presented which utilizes well-established principles of cellular physiology, training principles, therapeutic exercise progression, and competent self care strategies. Sessions will address a variety of running issues including running mechanics and the application of sound training principles in developing a comprehensive injury prevention-based run training program. Course Location: Austin Community College, Eastview campus.

CCU/CEU approval: The course has been approved in Texas for 15 CCUs for physical therapists and physical therapist assistants, and for 1.5 CEU by the Nevada Board of Physical Therapy Examminers.

Note: Day One of the program (8.5 hours) will also be open to coaches, personal trainers, athletes, general public, and other health and fitness professionals.

Cost: Two day course (PTHA 1073: 15 hours, full CEU credit) is $375 (students $200); one day course (PTHA 1071: 8.5 hours, no CEU credit) is $200 per registrant.
