03-01-2014 RunSmart Level One (Corpus Christi)

Monday, 10 February 2014 20:57

Program notes: The RunSmart program is a Comprehensive Approach To Injury-Free Running. It focuses on three key elements: Prevention, Performance, and Physiotherapy.

Course description: There is a significant disparity between the scientific evidence related to running injuries and the current clinical practices exhibited by health care providers. There is also a significant incongruity between the current sports sciences research and the beliefs, anecdotes, and applications by athletes and coaches.

The primary goal of RunSmart is to provide runners, coaches, physical therapists, and other health and health care providers with a comprehensive approach to injury-free running. This encompasses running injury prevention, enhanced running performance, and optimal running injury recovery and rehabilitation.

Sessions will address a variety of running issues related to injury prevention, optimal training and performance, and evidence-based physical therapy and injury recovery, including running mechanics, training principles, and the development of a comprehensive injury prevention-based run training program while optimizing the performance of the athlete in the process.
